Farmers Mutual Automobile Insurance Company was founded in 1927. Eleven years later, by 1938, company assets and premiums surpassed $1 million. In 1958, American Family Life Insurance started to function as a company. Between 1961 and 1962, American Standard was started to help farmers with their unique insurance needs. The company experienced huge profits during the following years, and new ventures were put on the company's agenda. American Family Jingle was copyrighted on July 9, 1972. A few years later, in 1975, the company introduced its commercial line of products. All the hard work and effort that agents and employees put forth paid off, and the company soon became the fifth largest mutual auto insurer. A new motto was adopted in 1986, and the American Family celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2002.
